PNoy Declares June 12 as Regular Holiday, workers get 200% Pay

According to Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, workers who will render eight hours of work on June 12 are entitled to receive 200 percent of their basic salary.

Unlike in the previous administration, Independence Day, a regular holiday which falls on Sunday this year, will not be moved to Monday.

“The regular holiday in celebration of the Independence Day has been affirmed by President Benigno Aquino III by virtue of Proclamation 84 issued on December 2010,” said Baldoz.

Yahoo news, states on top of the eight hours of regular work, employees working this Sunday are entitled to an additional 30 percent of their hourly rate on the same day, Baldoz said.
Even if the employee doesn't go to work on Sunday, he or she is still entitled to 100 percent of the regular daily rate, provided he or she was present, or was on leave with pay, on the workday preceding the holiday.
Filipinos are urged to display the Philippine flags on offices and homes this week to commemorate the 113th anniversary of Philippine Independence with the theme “Kalayaan: Paninindigan ng Bayan.”
