Twitter CEO announces added twitter photo-sharing option

CEO Dick Costolo, at the All Things Digital conference Wednesday, announced that Twitter will be adding a photo-sharing option for its users over the next couple of weeks as reported by various international news sites, June 1, 2011.

Reports reveal that according to Costolo, users will be able to upload photos and attach them to “tweets” directly from Twitter.com.

Costolo was noted saying, “It’s part of the native data of the tweet.” Apparently the choice to start a photo-sharing service stemmed from a “need to remove the friction of adding photos to Twitter,” he adds.

Related reports also confirm that Photobucket, which currently hosts more than 8 billion photos and videos, is the chosen partner of Twitter in this endeavor.

It was further reported that Photobucket CEO Tom Munro mentioned in an e-mailed statement saying, “Photobucket is excited to be chosen to power this extension of Twitter.”

“We are confident that together we can seamlessly provide a simple, intuitive photo sharing experience for Twitter users,” he adds.
